well after a month of going back and forth between the 700p and the sps t im going with the 26" barrel but i got to thinking why pay 900 for the 700p when i can pay 600 for a sps varmint, im going to change out the stock anyways. from what ive read they are the same exact barrreled action. im looking for anyone that has done this and what kind of change did you have? I seen the sniper central review, thanks guys

LOL.

Its the exact same rifle. The P makes it look different in size, but I guarantee its the same.

That is funny as crap....varmint is thinner....where do people come up with this stuff??....Yes, they are the exact same rifle, I think the P has a different finish, but same everything else, oh and of course the stock.

Here's a pic of my SPS Varmint in a HS stock. 1100 rounds through the rifle with 100 through it in this stock and my only complaint is the crappy finish on the rifle.

Re: Remington 700sps varmint stock swap

I have had a sps varmint and a sps tactical, swapped out for a few stocks over the years if you are on a budget pick up a used HS stock or a new bell and carlson. Barreled action is the same on the sps varmint except with a cheaper finish but with decent care it is fine. Now if you got the cash a A1 or A1-3 is the way to go

Re: Remington 700sps varmint stock swap

well hey i appreciate all the help guys but i went to dicks tonight and held a sps varmint and screw that, even without a scope that thing would make walking through the woods a job, im going back to the original plan of the sps t lol. sry guys i know i asked for help and you did but way to heavy for a deer gun. A bunch of people said it would be but i was like "shit im 6'1 200lbs i can carry anything through the woods" well scratch that, unless i move to africa and have one of those little trackers that will carry it for me im not buying that thing, BUT i will buy one later down the road for strictly a target rifle, thanks guys

I was thinking about the whole thing. It shoots great, but I'm thinking about selling it and putting it towards better optic's.

Thanks though for asking,

If the barrel is too long, just cut it off to around 20"s, then you have what you wanted. Thats what happened to mine, balances great, shoots good, and only lost about 75fps.
