Hey everyone, been thinking of replacing my Rem 760 and Model 6 both in 30 06 with a 750. Nothing wrong with them except I'm beginning to think a 308 might be better suited to my deer hunting here in MN and am researching for a replacement.

250 yards is probably the longest distance I can shoot in the woods on my land, I'm looking for information on the Rem 750, accuracy, reliability (jams)? Or anything else you care to offer. Anyone with first hand experience?

Thanks and appreciate all replies.

Re: Remington 750 Autoloader

Why change from 30-06 to a 308? Remington has never made a good semi-auto rifle. Keep the 760. I know the 740,742,7400 is a piece of crap, I don`t know about the 750. If it`s a variation of the one`s I mentioned, stay away.

Re: Remington 750 Autoloader

Look at a Browning BAR, either .308 or '06. We use them in the woods down here and nothing beats a quick back-up shot in the thick stuff. I haven't shot the FNAR, but have heard good things about both accuracy and dependability. Both are a few more $$ than a Remington, but you get what you pay for...

Re: Remington 750 Autoloader

I guess I just feel that for the deer we have in our area, the 30 06 is a bit of overkill, yea they go down fast but it also leaves massive destruction inside. Mind is not made up yet, just figured if a 308 is good for elk it would just fine with white tail.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Remington 750 Autoloader

I bought a Rem 750 in .308. In the 6 months I owned it, I had it in my possession 5 days. The rest of the time it was at Remington or my gunsmith trying to make it more that a single-shot. Finally dumped it and got a Browning BAR in .308, and it is AWESOME... That 750 was a stinking piece of shit.
