I picked up a Remington LTR with the 40x trigger to use as a general purpose rifle. I have a GAP 6.5 Creedmoor, 6 creedmoor , SAC 7mm SAUM, and a few others but wanted a short barrel gun that I didn't mind if it got scratched up or left in the truck. I shoot the 155 amax and senar's out of it but was thinking about having the barrel changed to a 6.5 and shoot the 123 ELDM for flatter shooting and wind for coyotes but want to stay 20 inch. The thing shoots .5 MOA but has some recoil so I was just going to thread it and suppress it but if I'm doing that it may be beneficial to change the barrel. I don't want to turn my inexpensive project into another customer build but wanted some input or see if someone has a barrel that is cheap enough to justify the change or has done this.

I too love the 6.5's, but nothing wrong with a good 500Y 308 rifle. I say thread it or lop off 3/4-1" and thread it to see how you like it. This way there is not too much invested and the brake/supressor may be what you wanted.

I had one of my Remmys chopped to 16.25" and it fits in a shotgun case. Simple and great Jeep rifle.

That is a awesome rifle. There is something to be said for shorter barrel rifles. It just seem the 6 and 6.5 shoot flatter but the 308 like the 30-06 confuses the hell out of the mellinials!!lol
