I picked one up at a show unfired in the box. It came with badger ordnance mount and rings. Now to find a redfield 3x9 accu range scope. I now most were anodized green but were the later models matt black? I will post pics when i finish this project.

Get in touch with Tokiwartooth on this site or over at CMP Forum. He has been anodizing 3-9X Redfields green and now has some repro tombstones he can add. I'd say His scopes would be closer to the real thing than the SWFA repro.

Either way good enough scopes. Good luck with your rifle.

Many of the military accurange scopes were blued, typically matte. I nearly bought the most documented m40 I have ever seen. It was unfired since it was awarded to a match winner, in the brown case, plaque in the winner's name, paperwork in his name, everything was there. It had a gloss blue accurange, which some say never happened but I can assure you it was gloss and a very high end collector who has 6 original M40s bought it and it was not cheap. It would have been mine in 15 hrs as I had the money 15 hrs after it was purchased.

There is a Gloss Gen1 AcuRange on Ebay.

Latter models, circa 68-69 were satin anodized black, they were the same scopes used for the Army's AR-TEL M21 scope.

These scopes were used on M40A1's as late as the early eighties.
A satin anodized scope on a M40A1 circa 1982
