Does anyone know where to get just the action of a Remington Model 700? I called Remington as well as a bunch of the local gun shops, but none of them can get their hands on one. It seems kind of ridiculous to buy a $900 gun just for the action.

Thanks.

Re: Remington Model 700 Action

Remington stopped selling barreled actions and just actions a few years ago. Everybody and their brother who wants to build a relatively inexpensive tacticool bullet pusher wants a bare action or a barreled action on the cheap. Those deals are as scarce as hen's teeth these days.

Re: Remington Model 700 Action

You can get action only from Bruno's Shooter supply, Also Iron Brigade Armory has some.

Bruno's is only offering Blueprinted ones at the moment, IBA has all types

I see complete rifles going for cheap in the local ad rags,Pawn shops are more than willing to cut a deal these days, most guys don't realize that a bare action is worth as much as a "Huntin Rifle".Depending on what you want to build,I'd check out the custom actions, more resale value too.

Re: Remington Model 700 Action

Look in the classifieds here and on other gun forums. I just got a pristine 1980s, B prefix serial number, 308 varmint (24") barreld action of arfcom. I paid $420. Not the greatest deal, but cheaper than buying a whole rifle to throw away. I plan on keeping the barrel until it is shot out anyway.
