Which would you buy the Remington 700 XCR 26" or the MIL SPEC SS 24" 5R caliber will be 308 winchester.

Ive got a 5R in 300win. and took it the range this morning for the first time. Factory Black Hills 180gr. Barnes triple shocks and it was easily shooting right at an 1" at 100. So far I love this setup
go for the 5R. just my opinion

Had a 5R in .308. Was a pretty damn good shooter right out of the box. Dicked with it enough that it is now a .260 with a Broughton tube on it.

forgot to ask, will both rifles stabilize 168 and 175 gr bullets?

Ya both will stabilise them just fine.

Get whichever you like the most.

I have a 700P, which doesnt have 5R, and it shoots 1/2moa all day long so dont let rifling in a barrel determine your choice if there are other aesthetic features you like.

I have a 5R in .308. A friend of mine bought an XCR so I have had a chance to see them perform side by side. I don't regret my choice with the 5R. Now the GAP I had in my hands yesterday is a whole different story.

I too had great luck with the 5R. I never owned another rifle in that price range that shot better.
