I have a 700 SPS Tactical in a HS stock. I am looking at getting a one piece base for it. I have found Nightforce and GG&G. Is one better than the other ?
Are there others that are better ? Sorry for such a basic question, I am new to the long range thing. I have been hunting my whole life, but never had the need to shoot over 100 yards.

Re: Remington scope base

What you want is a one piece 20 MOA base made by:

Badger Ordnance (Steel or Alloy)
Seekins Precision (Alloy only)
Nightforce (Steel)

Any of those will serve you well.

Re: Remington scope base

I do see that GG&G makes a base for Rem bolt rifles. I don't see that it's a 20 MOA base. But it's your money buy what you like, and let us know how it works out.

The bases I mentioned are proven quality bases. I've never used a GG&G base on a bolt rifle, so I cannot compare.

Re: Remington scope base

Wade,

I prefer quality alloy bases and rings over steel, for the weight savings. Others prefer the strength of steel bases and rings. I worry more about the four dinky screws holding the whole mess on the rifle, than the material the bases and rings are made of.
