Remington SPS Varmint vs older VS

I am not familiar with the changes of these rifles but I am wanting to buy a VS with the factory HS precision stock. How do these differ from the newer Remington 700s?

Well at least with an older VS with the H-S stock and pre-2002 old style Rem trigger, you got a decent platform to begin with.

With the new SPS Varmints, you first have to burn the stock, and then smash the MarkX trigger with a hammer, just to get their stink off your rifle......

Other than that they are about the same.

IMHO and YMMV,
