Gunsmithing Remington trigger?

Re: Remington trigger?

you probably wont find any on the net for adjusting an x-mark....
locate the weight screw (just in front and above the triger), 1/16 allen fits it...back it out a couple turns...make sure its safe....re-loctite
....now as for proper instructions on how to adjust an x-mark, ....pull the two pins first the back pin (bolt release) and then pull the front pin (sear pin)...but after you pull the first one make sure you watch where the sear spring flies...better to do over floor other than carpet...
once the trigger comes free from the receiver, save the pins and the bolt release lever and spring....throw the rest away and buy an old style, or custom of your choice.

Re: Remington trigger?

You can replace the spring behind the pull weight adjustment screw, with a longer & lighter one. I found that the spring off of an automotive air stem/valve was a perfect candidate, cut it a little more than an 1/8" longer than the factory one. Mine will adjust much further down now and is consistent and safe, not sure if it'd be the same in others.

great tip, i had the same thought myself but didnt want to have to go through the experimentation of filding the right spring, so I just replaced the whole thing.
The general consesus on these triggers is that while they perform well initially, they wont adjust down as far as most would like, and once they get down into the lower limit, the pull weight becomes inconsistent and maybe unsafe. I liked mine to begin w/ until I read a thread or two, decided to go back and check mine, and sure enough I was having problems too.

Re: Remington trigger?

S&W cylinder stop spring works quite well also, you may have to cut a coil or two to get it just right.

I went through exactly what ewoaf described. Try it, if you like it use it and enjoy....that is until you wake up one day and the trigger has a mind of it's own..
