What does the triangular barrel on the VTR really have to do with the trajectory of the rounds? The guy at the shop told mr that it had to do with how the barrel resonates and flexes after the shot is fired... Is he telling the truth?
The VTR will resonate differently than a round barrel will, but that has no bearing on trajectory, accuracy, or any bearing on anything, except to try to resonate more money out of your wallet for a useless sales gimmick.
I agree that it doesn't do anything special. I can tell you that my father in law's 243 VTR is a solid MOA rifle though. That's not close to the .5-.7 MOA I got out of my 5R and XCR Tactical 308's. It is lighter than them both though, which i think is the only gain to the traingular barrel gimmick, and the built in brake at the end of the barrel does seem to cut muzzle jump and recoil as advertised, but it's also noticeably louder. After three shots on deer in a day with it while hunting my ears rang for over a day later.
