Gunsmithing Removal of material in AR Lower

I have an older PWA AR lower. There is some extra material in the trigger guard area when the lower was cast & it is a bit sharp. I was wondering if it is ok to smooth it out with a dremel tool or is that not a good idea. It is a preban lower & since I live in a ban state I don't want to screw it up. I don't have any pics right now, I'm 1500 miles from home.

If your talking about some flashing on the surface a little smoothing out with a dremel tool won't hurt anything.

Here are a few pics. You can see the seam on the center of the trigger guard area.

That ridge is caused by excess material being forced out of the forging die when the lower receiver is forged. That is a tell tale sign of a forged receiver.

Is it safe to remove that excess with a dremel tool?

You will need to re-coat it when finished, obviously.
