Suppressors Remove suppressors as an NFA regulated item?

Been posted up several times now. I've signed it, but realize it is useless as it would require an act of congress to remove suppressors from the NFA. Would be awesome, but where people would have to channel their efforts would be with their local congressmen and hope that there would be enough votes to get them removed from the NFA.

I can't figure out how they have managed to classify a suppressor as a firearm. By definition, a suppressor is not a firearm, so how is it covered under National FIREARMS act. Not sure what means are available legally to force action on this matter to steer favor in the hands of the people. The argument can be made that all other countries (as far as I know) suppressors are just like walking into a store and buying a hammer and nails.

I won't hold my breath, our government is full of stupid people, no common sense, and they don't give a crap about what we want.

I think a petition to ADD car "mufflers" TO the NFA would be a better option.
After all, they provide the same function.
Maybe this would open some eyes as to the stupidity of classifying a metal tube as a firearm.

Just think, an 11 month wait on a stamp to buy a truck.

I doubt suppressors will be removed from NFA anytime soon. I would be okay with them implementing a "NFA License system." First time is a $200 fee for the license along with all the requisite background check and other assorted beaureaucratic bullshit they do on every suppressor purchase.. Once you are cleared for the license you can purchase a suppressor and have it transferred to you through your class 3 dealer just like usual, except without the wait. NICS background check on each suppressor transferred.
