Re: Removing Krylong from AI chassis
Purchase a plastic window planter, make sure there are no drain holes in the bottom. Purchase one or two gallon jugs of Castro Super Clean degreaser. Both are available at Wal-mart (the Degreaser is in the Automotive Dept in a purple gallon antifreeze type jug, the planter in the Garden Dept).
Place the part(s) to be stripped in the planter, and add degreaser until everything is covered. Soak overnight, the Krylon should soften to a gel and strip off easily.
You can reclaim the degreaser by filtering it through a cone-style coffee filter.
Warning! This degreaser will attack bare aluminum, leaving a dull etched surface.
I am led to believe that this degreaser is considerably more environmentally (and people-) friendly than acetone, brake cleaner, etc. Some Chlorinated Hydrocarbon solvents (Carbon Tetrachloride, Trichloroethane, etc.) can do vicious things to your DNA (can you say 'Carcinogen'?). BTDT (twice), ain't gonna go again...
