so i had to remove the screws from my EGW base that had blue Loctite on them. i was just gonna order new screws from EGW for $3 but shipping is $7 and up? before anyone one says to go to Home Depot and look for them i wanna see if i can use something around the house to remove the Loctite with out damaging the threads. thanks.

Hold them in pliars holding the top and bottom of the screw and use a bore brush. Sometimes I've used a flame from a lighter or torch to burn and dry it out first and then scrub it off.

1) Wire brush or wire Dremel wheel
2) Thread chaser of the appropriate size (a thread die works, too, but sometimes will remove screw material)
3) Buy new screws at the local Fastenal or hobby shop

+1 on nail polish remover (acetone). I just got a set of rings off a member here on hide and the screws has some loctite. Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover renders the stuff into little pieces of gunk (kinda like the rubbery stuff on the back of a coupon) that rubs off. I also stuck the q-tip into the hole and twisted it around, the soft cotton molds nicely into the threads with a little pressure and cleans it all out nicely.

Don't forget to apply a little oil afterwards because acetone is a grease stripper.
