Gunsmithing Removing red loctite- best solvent/solution?

Re: Removing red loctite- best solvent/solution?

Sorry, should have been more specific- this isn't to loosen a screw, it's just for removing some from a metal surface. Sounds though that acetone is the ticket (?)

Thanks.

Re: Removing red loctite- best solvent/solution?

Loctite Chisel #79040 (their stripper / removal product) is what Henkel recommends to remove cured loctite and it works well.

Methylene Chloride is the main active ingredient in Chisel.

Even then, in some situations you'll need heat and/or mechanical action to remove it. Some really, really stubborn stuff occasionally needs either a wire wheel or light bead blasting to remove.

Since LocTite is a plastic...polymethylmethacrylate...a solvent that works on that stuff is gtg. If you have a dentist friend (or foe) ask him/her for a bit of his liquid denture resin MONOMER. It will work quickest of all. JMHO

Jewel's are pretty simple. Just use a towel to catch the little parts.

Good luck.

Well I did it was so scared but after one hour working on the trigger everything ended well
