Replacement 10/22 barrels

Re: Replacement 10/22 barrels

1:16
If you're contemplating longer ranges, do yourself a favor and buy a better barrel, like a KID.
Some GMs shoot great, others not so much. The sent out a BUNCH with over chamfered chambers. Lack of QC makes them cheaper. They made good on them, but still...
Kidd starts with Lothar Walther blanks, like Clark and Volquartsen. How they sell them for $200 I have no idea.
I think a 1:18 is intended for Stingers and other light bullet hypervelocity loads.

Re: Replacement 10/22 barrels

Any down-side with going for a 1:9 twist? Obviously that's primarily for the 60-grain subsonics ... but ... if faster is better ... why not the 1:9?

Re: Replacement 10/22 barrels

The downside of 1:9 is that it's only optimal for one load, and I've NEVER heard that Aguila SSS 60gr was match ammo from ANY barrel.
All other .22 rifles in production have twist from 1:15 to 1:17, with the overwhelming majority being 1:16. Take the hint.
