Just curious, why would you spend the extra X amount on an AAC-SD and then turn around and re-barrel it? Not trying to be an ass, it's just a legitimate question. With that being said, would you be willing to sell your barrel? If so, how much?

It could be just to keep it as a spare for some reason...
To keep with the AAC theme, I would go with their .260 rem barrel just to mix things up and play with a different caliber.
Or go with their .308 barrel just to see what that 1-8 twist is all about.
Otherwise the entire market is open depending on what you want to do: sky's the limit.

No shit, might as well saved a few bucks and picked up an SPS.

Would say GAP as well, but I think that bridge is now burned.
Maybe you should have it scoped before replacing the barrel just to make sure that is what it is? I had a new rifle that I thought was bad also, but it turned out my rings was just loose. Maybe you could take the base and rings off and put them back on. Just retrace your steps.

All BS aside, I'm surprised they would do that much work on a factory barrel. Or at least without advising heavily against it.

I respectfully disagree. I would suggest Short Actions Customs above others because of the quality of the work AND the outstanding CS. My opinion

I think Mark and George should join forces and become the ultimate monopoly of rifle building. The holy land of rifle smithing!
They are both capable of top notch work. I have rifles built by both guys and they are very impressive. Not to mention, their are great guys. Especially when you bribe them with bourbon
