You best have another means/back up of getting your news/intel or being able to communicate, with loved ones or like minded. Being in the dark when shit is happening, ain't a plan thinking people allow.

That is a pretty spiffy website

AFAIC the internet, cell phones, TV, an many more "Normal" everyday items can go away forever. Getting back to a normal life before electronics would suite me just fine. Knowing that will never happen but, I hope those that like them get all they want before they wake up,...

One thing that is totally lost to history is the ability for most to read a letter, message, e-mail or anything beyond the 180 character limit of their twitter trained brains. Or to think about how to clearly put everything they want down on a single communication so they don't have to follow back up with more parts of it or wonder if they left things out.

Back in the old days we used to send letters around the world and it might be a month between your sending the letter and getting a reply.

So if you were needing to talk something over or discuss something, you usually had to think in advance and fully spell out every detail you wanted to get across so you didn't have to wait for a month for the reply. If you were really good at it, you could include extra paragraphs asking follow up questions to different possible replies for more time savings.

I think most folks these days would grind to a halt if they had to send letters. I often type e-mails to folks about a list of questions they send me and they reply back with thanks, but what about xxx I'm then like, did you read more than the first sentence, the answer you are looking for is in paragraph 2

Many, if not most, of the past great authors and minds in the world were obsessive letter writers, and several, such as Steinbeck and Fitzgerald, (just to name two) have had their personal correspondence published. Even a brief study of such works would be a serious education in how to properly convey one's thoughts with paper and pen.

In regards to Gunfighter's opening statement and wh20crazy's comment, ham is probably the best option. One more thing to add to the prep list.

I use the internet for entertainment. It's of nearly zero use as a source of intelligence and I don't use it for communicating with anyone (I have no social media presence).
