I have been using 308 Lapua brass and neck sizing it down to 7mm. I am concerned that I am not sizing the entire neck down because it looks like it has a small doughnut at the base of the neck. I do believe that this doughnut is part of the neck that didn't get resized. What method are other people doing to resize their necks, more so people that resize 308 brass down to 7mm. Thanks

Are you using a bushing die? If so those dont go all the way down the neck and would be contributing to the doughnut. Try a traditional full length die for initial forming.

It could be that the necks are simply thicker than the shoulders and youll need to neck turn. pics and measurements would be helpful

I resized 500pcs of lapua palma to 7mm-08 for my ackley and used a standard 7mm-08 die (non bushing) and hornady unique sizing lube. Had zero issue's once I removed the decapping pin.

If it goes in the die, it should go in the gun. If you are in doubt about the neck consistency, with regard to a "doughnut" or potential constriction, get the Lee collet/mandrel neck sizing die, and run the brass through that after sizing. This die will pretty much assure you that there is no internal neck inconsistency. Lots of F/TR shooters use the Lee collet neck die, along with the Redding body/shoulder die, and that's it. Use the Lee die only according to the Lee instructions, or you may damage the die.

Thanks guys for your help. I do have the redding body die and possibly a Lee collet die( have one, just not sure what size at this time). I have been FL sizing but was just a little worried about that doughnut, although they chamber fine. Probably just need to load and shoot.

BTW, 8208 XBR shoots very, very well.
