So I am reloading 6.5 in a semi auto and am wondering if after I resize with a small base die if it’s worth running it through a neck sizer for proper tension? Will this be working the brass too much? I have used small base dies in 223 and 308 with Lee crimp dies with pretty good success but have never messed with a neck size die.

What small base die?
All the small base does I know of are still full length sizers so running a second necksizing step would just be redundant.

Also what makes you think you need a small base for over a normal?

Also what neck die?
If you did a normal small base with the expander removed you could still use mandrels or a collet die and get even better results probably.

RCBS small base die and Hornady Match neck sizer. I know the sb die does the neck too but looking for more consistentcy. I’ll take the mandrel out of the sb die.
I’m using the sb die since the ammo will be in a semi auto. Do I have to? No but gives me piece of mind.

Both 918 and spife are right, you are just doing redundant operations, pull the expander ball, buy the correct size mandrel to set tension, or buy a whidden die with their custom expander ball pack for one and done.
