Don't forget Rayners is having their last long range plate match on Sunday the 24th. They have a full 1000 yards now. That lil 8" target sure does look small out there. In practice all of us "Short Stick" shooters have hit it so it should be a piece of cake for you rifle guys.

Multiple stations with multiple targets to choose from and point values based on size and difficulty of target so if ya feel like all your moons are aligned and it's your day go for the small target and big points. 6 stations with 2 sets of targets at each station. Total of 36 shots needed to complete the match.

Having the varying size targets at some of the stations really adds to the competition. Do I be safe and go for big target and smaller points or gamble on a smaller one with a chance at a high point value? At the end of the day the scores are close at the top so taking those chances add to the excitement.

Optic rifle, open sight rifle and even a Handgun class are shot so there is something for everyone. Benches are at each location or you can shoot prone if you prefer to give it a more tactical feel. Challenging wind and target sizes make for a very interesting match so come on out and give it a try. If you're new to long range plate shooting don't be shy, come on out and there will be plenty of help available.

Re: Rayners 1000 yard shoot on 10/24/2010

If I didn't have to work every weekend I would like to come out and shoot the match. I'm always up for a challenge. I have just the "new" tool I would like to try. I think it would be a great time and chance to meet new shooters.

Hi Tom, be nice to see ya come on down. Prob after this months shoot we'd like to come up and give the Intimidator a try. Never shot out that far and am always up for a new challenge. I made a better stand to shoot off of now and appreciate you letting us use it last time when we shot the short course.

Topstrap, I've heard a lot of great things about your matches. If the wife will give me Sunday off, I will try to make it up there. Mark

Re: Rayners 1000 yard shoot on 10/24/2010

Not my matches but we do go to them. I just pass along the info to keep people informed. Very challenging, good fun with great people.

Tom Rayner owns the property and runs the matches. Super nice people.

Hope to see ya there, we'll be easy to spot. Me, my son and buddy Dale are the ones shooting with half a gun.

Registration is open from 9:00 and shooting starts at 10:00. The match will break for lunch (food and drinks available for purchase) after the first 3 stations and shoot the last 3 after lunch. Yes, the match will last until 4:00 or 5:00 or so. You'll need 36 rounds for the match and you are welcome to hang out afterwards and shoot more if you wish. Hope to see you there.

Ok great ,you will love it,the weather looks fantastic !!

Re: Rayners 1000 yard shoot on 10/24/2010

Wind is good. I'll take a breezy day anytime over sideways rain. Guestimate about 4ft for wind, send'r.

Hope it's a good turnout.

I'm sure you'll have a great time 90-fxr, nothing to worry about, no pressure to try and beat your last score. Just stand close to a couple fellas named Mike S. and Jim A. and do what they do and you'll be fine.

There always seems to be a good challenge one way or the other. Make sure to introduce yourselves if you haven't been there. It's kinda cool to keep track of Hide members.

Re: Rayners 1000 yard shoot on 10/24/2010

Congratulations to Dave Arbenz for todays winning score, good job Dave. Also congratulations to Dale today, he whooped me this month. Not much of an excuse except I gotta learn to shoot in wind better and don't gamble on smaller high value targets in these conditions

Had a great turnout, I think it was 50 or close to it. Some new faces also, can't wait till next year now. Got some changes for mine and sons short sticks over the winter to hopefully let us see those targets better.

One thing I did really enjoy was seeing Carl Holman with an open sighted 30-40 Craig shooting cast bullets ring steel twice at 590 yards. Shooting at it's best, great job Carl.

Had fun this year shooting with ya all and look forward to next season.

Re: Rayners 1000 yard shoot on 10/24/2010

Great turn out for the end of the season match. Good job to everyone for keeping the match flowing as it's not easy with 49 shooters. It's always nice to see some new faces and meet new shooters. If everyone brings a buddy every now and then we'll keep the sport healthy and growing.
Nice shooting to the short gun guys. Everybody take a look at the results and see where the handrifles stand!!! That is impressive considering they are only using 1/2 a gun

.
I imagine next year's matches will follow the same schedule, so see you all on the 4th Sunday of February 2011!!!
