On a S&B you can have the reticle installed on the 1st or 2nd focal plane when you order it.

How do you tell which plane it is installed on when you look through a used S&B?

If its front focal, the reticle will increase or decrease in size depending on what magnification its on. Sfp, reticle will stay the same size regardless of magnification.

Re: Reticle installed on 1st or 2nd Focal Plane?

According to NF, the size of the reticle in a first focal plane on full magnification is no bigger/bolder than a second focal plane reticle at any magnification. That beging said, do any of you FFP shooters have trouble seeing small targets at long distnces?
