So, which do you like better? Mil-Dot or TMR? I am having my reticle changed in my VX3, trying to decide on which one.

It depends on your purpose......If you going to use your reticle for ranging, or extensive use of reticle holds, then go TMR. If you only plan to do those things infrequently, but need a bold reticle for hunting, then go Mildot.

It depends on your purpose......If you going to use your reticle for ranging, or extensive use of reticle holds, then go TMR. If you only plan to do those things infrequently, but need a bold reticle for hunting, then go Mildot.

the TMR is great. it's not as busy as you'd think. the reticle is open in the middle. it's not the best reticle for going out and shooting groups (IMHO), but it's a great reticle for shooting unknown distances.

MilDot was a great alternative to crosshair. Today with TMR and MilHash reticles using MilDot looks as ridiculous to me as shooting muskets (some people still like to do that, I know
).

Both work and of the two I like the TMR better. But I'm not a fan of either.

I think the TMR is one of the best.
You can easily range and hold within .1 mil without having too much going on, obstructing too much target area, or being too spaced out/likely to go invisible with dark/busy backgrounds like some others.

What do you prefer? I'm trying to make the same decision... which Leupold recticle to go with. Will be using for mid-range F-Class and with a clip on NV devise where ranging will be important.

Of Leupolds reticles the TMR is the best thing they offer. My personal favorite is Premiers Gen II XR and the Gen II Mil-dot lands squarely in the number 2 spot on my list.

TMR it is then! Thanks for all the input guys, I am sending in my VX 3 8.5x25 to have M1 turrets put on and the reticle changed.

Got my scope back yesterday. The TMR looks great, can't wait to get some trigger time with it. Thanks again guys.
