Rifle Scopes Reticles

Re: Reticles

I used to use a duplex for hunting, but now that I can effectively use a Mildot for hold overs, I have a Mildot on everything. Reticle in SFP. FFP reticles are really nice, but can become to thin at lower powers and not visible with certain backdrops.

For target shooting I preferred a fine crosshair or the NP-2DD if you are using wind flags. The NP-2DD has virtually no vertical reticle portion, and you can clearly see the the windflags, without any obstructions. Reticle in the SFP because the reticle is thinner at higher magnification than a FFP. FFP optics tend to get a little big and obscure too much of the target for precise shot placement.

There are exceptions to all the generalizations I just used....

Re: Reticles

I use simple plex, multiple TK Lee dot reticles, the Rapid Reticle, Holland's HUMR, Burris's Ballistic Plex and Ball. MD, Leup. TMR and VH reticles, mil-dot, NF NP-R1 for hunting.

Of all of them i actually prefer the 22 Long Rifle Rapid Reticle (adjusted for trajectory) for best overall use.

Re: Reticles

I find Mildot reticles quite adequate - but my real love is Vortex EBR reticle style (I used EBR-2). Haven't seen a better idea yet, and implementation is pretty good.
