So this weekend I spoted a flock of turkey long time return to the ranch.
Today hunting cut short for sick grandkids.

I was washing dishes in the cabin and walked out with a big pan of hot dishwater,
Turned the corner and there they were some of them 30 feet away.
Tossed the pan, in their direction, oops! They had already spotted me.
Ran for my rifle and around the cabin for a shot, they were hauling the mail up a steep Creek bed
with brush got one gobler in my cross hairs and with a thunderous click new my day was done.
I swear that click echoed in the valley.

Always close on an empty chamber and leave on the table outside.
Edit: to top that I hung my head in frustration only to notice I had a sidearm, damn!

They are probably still laughing at me.
