I am going to be having a .338 LM built, and really like the AI stocks. I have only shot the AICS 2.0 (a friends). Can someone who has extensive time on both (I realize the AX is recent) give me an opinion with pros/cons on both designs, or at least the reasons they prefer one over the other?

I have tried a search here, but can't seem to find this information...

Re: Review / comparison AI AICS vs AX

Biggest difference is the AX offers a ton of rail space, a pistol grip, and only comes in a folder. If you need a lot of rail space or simply want the newest, get the AX. If you don't care about rail space or don't need the newest, get the AICS and save a few hundred bucks. It's really that simple.

Isn't the AX also planned to be offered in the Savage action foot print as well (I seem to recall reading that somewhere; planned release this summer).

    Ahh...just found the reference...

I own an AW and an AICS both 1.5. Bottom line, totally up to you, the thumb-hole works for me so I like it. Also mine are slightly lighter than an AX. I have no use for NV or lasers, so I don't need the Rails. The AXCS or the AX rifle are both comfortable, but unless you need the rail space, just stick with Legacy AICS. Either way you decide, pictures when yours is finished?

i shoot AICS at work, have a AICS on my personal 300wm and i have a AW all 2.0. i put badger IMUNS on them and that gives me any capability that i need for lasers and NV. i prefer the AI to the AX but thats just me more so because i'm used to em. its a personal prefrence thing they are great chassis either way.

There are pros & cons to both setups. I wrote a review that compares the AICS and AX ... as well as the AICS with some of the new 3rd party skins that are coming out. I think the new skins combine a lot of the best parts of each, and even improve upon a few things.
