I bought a Deviant Tactical action rem 700 s/a and i need to get a barrel for it....this is my first time building a rifle and im a bit lost on how i should go about getting a barrel.
Im not sure what my threads are on action so im afraid to buy a threaded barrel. So that leaves me with getting a blank barrel. I plan on using the rifle for benchrest plinking so probably a heavy barrel is good.
Confused by all the contours and numbers describing barrels. Id like a bartlein or kreiger.

Any advice on where a good place to look and what to look for would be greatly appreciated!

You're in custom build territory- riflesmith.
If none local to you, it's a few bucks in postage to ship it to whomever, wherever you choose.
Give some more thought as to what, specifically, the intended use of the rifle will be.
Benchrest "plinking" is fine- but....what range(s)....do you handload...TOTAL budget, including glass...how much, if any of the work will you be doing, and not the smith. All of this information, and more, is needed in order to make recommendations as to what you need that will truly suit your needs- and budget.

When I get a phone call or email along these lines, it always starts with this "interview" of sorts. Give it some thought, write it all down, and call two or three to get their input- including specifics/pricing, estimated turnaround. Good luck.

About 5k is what im planning on spending.
Have a vortex scope and deviant action so far. Choosing a Cadex chassis and a TT Diamond Trigger. Just the barrel i need to figure out. Ill message a gunsmith on here.
