Rifle Basix trigger for Savage 97/MkII

Re: Rifle Basix trigger for Savage 97/MkII

Hazardus-
Awesome customer service! I ordered my trigger tonight. Should be back home in 4-5 weeks to install and enjoy!

Glad to hear you both speak so highly of the triggers; I ran across it in a Natchez Shooter's Supply catalog and was curious about which trigger version it was for, got on the website and noticed they had two versions and figured for $85, I might as well give it a try! I like that its fully adjustable- should be a step up from the already decent accutrigger!

Just remember to close the bolt slowly.

i have one on all my savages and on a marlin. well worth the investment, you wont be sorry.

i've only had trouble with slam firing on my mkii, but that's when it's set under .75 lb. - haven't had a problem with it on .75lb.

when you get it, do some "heavy" cycling (with and empty gun) to make sure it doesn't fire on you , with and without the safety on. i also like to drop my EMPTY rifle (on the butt) with and without the safety on from about 2 feet on a rubber mat to make sure it is good to go.

usually both "tests" are indications that you have a safe poundage set, and know how far you can go before an accidental discharge.

Thanks for the Tips!! I'll be sure to follow them! Definitely do not want random discharges!

no problem, with a little tinkering, you can get them REALLY crisp.

the only drawback to them is that there is no external way to adjust them. you have to go through the whole "rig-a-maroo" (technical term) of taking out the receiver and putting it back in. so try to do the best you can when the receiver is out of the stock to reduce the "rig-a-maroo" to only a few times.

once it's set, you'll love it.

Some of the early triggers for the Savage would not allow you to engage the safety, until a few thousandths was ground off the trigger. Easy enough, or, if this should happen, send it back for a fix

Yeah so, I did get this trigger installed... VERY good trigger. It's even better than the accutrigger... which, for $85 is pretty impressive to me. The Accutrigger really is a pretty good trigger for an out of the box, mid/low price range rimfire.

The only down side is having to adjust the trigger heavier due to firing when closing the bolt hard. But it's still a bit lighter than the factory trigger and breaks cleaner.
