RIFLE CHASSIS AND SCOPE BORE HEIGHT

Looking at the Rem. XM 2010 chassis and its "brother" the Cadex Gen 1 & 2 chassis I just gotta ask:

WHY do they make the forearm <span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">so</span></span> big that the Picatinny rail is elevated way off the top of the rifle's reciever???

Because of this design "flaw" the butt plate and cheekpiece must be elevated way up to line up your eye with the scope. I don't like a bore height difference that large.

Now I'm looking at the JP Enterprises chassis for my all stainless Rem./HS Precision barreled long action .300 WM.

Any thoughts on the JP chassis?

Part of the reason is for heat dissipation, another reason is to have the real estate and strength to hang everything a military sniper may need to hang on it, and a third reason(I'm not positive on this so someone correct me if I'm wrong) but the shape of the handguard is more ergonomic and easier to use in positional shooting.

Many guys make a big issue of scope over bore but the buttstock on the Cadex is so adjustable that you can still get a comfortable cheekweld and that's the biggest issue. The only disadvantage is you'll burn up a little more adjustment with a short zero and your point blank range will be unusual, but if you have $1700+ for a Cadex, you have the coin for a scope with enough adjustment.

Unless something recently changed, the JP is not offered in long action. Their chassis suffers from the same issue unless you get the bench rest forearm.
