I think I have it narrowed down to the Zeiss V8 1.8-14 and the Swarovski Z8i 2.3-18. I know both are very nice scopes and neither one would probably be a bad choice. Does anyone have recommendation or experience with either of them that might place one over the other?

A more budget friendly option: I've been eyeing the new Vortex Razor HD LHT 3-15x as well.
    • What is the platform for the scope? Bolt
    • What cartridge are you shooting? 280AI
    • What is your intended use for the scope? Hunt/Target/Steel (maybe, not sure)
    • What type of conditions will you typically shoot in? All
    • What are the typical distances you intend to shoot? Normal humane hunting ranges and would like to open it up one day out to a mile+ if possible.
    • Are there any specific specifications you would like? Not really, still new to the riflescope game.

EuroOptic has some demo Zeiss (including some V8s) right now, if saving a few bucks helps your decision:

Lol. That's why I ask. They have the demo Z8i as well.

    • Haha
    Reactions: Secant
Is dropping 3k on a scope worth it? I really want a nice scope but dropping that much is like trying to swallow an apple whole right now.

Nobody can tell you what's "worth it" - you know your own finances, needs, wants, blah, blah, blah. Expensive shit is nicer than cheap shit.

Lots of guys on here are shooting far more than I am, but I think I've spent around $2,000 (maybe more) this year on ammo. Not hoarding, actually shooting. I'm projecting an average of 1 new barrel every 1 to 1.5 years, there's about $400(ish) per year on average. Other stuff will undoubtedly brake and need replaced or just need (want) to be upgraded over the years. So for me, a $3,000 optic that I am using every week or twice a month over the next couple of decades really isn't that bad.
