Anyone know of a club that does this? I want to start it up at our local club but need some info on distance and targets, both paper and steel or I gotta make some stuff up from our regular TPRC matches only scaled down.

Tim,

I have collected as many targets as I can find, and some read through the AAR's on this site and others. I think we can definitly do this at PRG. Smallbore would work for alot of things, but I think Highpower will work best, as we can do UKD alot easier there. Be real easy if scott would let us use his paper target holders too

Hopefully we can start this soon, I think it will be a fun match for everyone to come try!

Will talk to you more about it later

That is a great match; I managed to place third in it, once, last year. Several of the regular competitors are members here, as is Timberwolf, the guy who runs it. Drop him a line, and I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.

Re: Rimfire sniper matches (TPRC)

We just fired our first long range .22 match. every body loved it and ask that we keep dong it. ours was simple. our next one i we will fire 100 and 200 yards and may put the 150 in also. we are keeping iton the simple side to get people up and running as most do not shoot much past their feet any way so getting the come ups is the hard part for a new shooter or even some that have fired before. we had a shooter tring to shoot with a 10/22 with the sights that came on the rifle and it was ugly to say the least. Best of luck with your match and let everyone know how it went.

We do.

Here is what we learned.

Steel targets make for a faster match. Paper = slow.

Steel target have to be 1/4 inch thick out to 200 yards. Otherwise they bend. 1/2 inch is way to thick for anything.

From 220 yards to 250 yards we use 3/16 inch steel.

We had a target at 330 yards that was 1/8 thick and the .22 rimfire rounds taco'd that target.(alot of folks hit this suprisingly, it was an optional stage)

For target sizes we use the following accuracy to determine hit probability
1 inch at 100 yards
4 inches at 200 yards

a 3.5 inch round gong is reasonable, prone supported, out to 100 yards

for 200 we don't usually have anything smaller that 6x10 inches.(we tried a 4x6 at 200 yards and it was too small, and the competitors got a tad frustrated.)

at 250, the target is 9x15 inches.

for the 330 yard shot the target was 14x21 inches.

We also don't have anyone have to determine the distance to target(mil targets). In order to see the dirt splash we have berms from 25 out to 330 yards at 25 yard intervals.
