Rifle Scopes Ring Size for NF 5.5-22X50 on a Rem 700 5R? Sorry!

I KNOW this is a noob question and you guys are going to hate me for it...

I KNOW there is a thread that covers this in detail, I tried to follow it and the rings I got are too large..

I KNOW I suck and I'm wasting your time... but I'm sorry! I really hope some kind soul out there will help me out..

I just got my NF 5.5-22X50, a nightforce 20 MOA rail and some nightforce rings... The rings are 1.265 and pretty high.

Does anyone know offhand, what size NF rings I need to mount this scope properly?

I'm going to try the penny measure method, but I was really hoping someone would have experience with this set up...

I'm ashamed I had to this, and I can't apologize enough...

Why did you buy 1.265" height rings? None of the info on this site would have led you to that height for a 50mm objective on a bolt gun.

If you want to stick with NF rings get the .885" height.

I know Rob... I goofed up.. I wasn't confident in the calculation and I asked the folks at opticsplanet.. They suggested the High rings..

You should call opticsplanet to get rings exchanged. They may or my not be helpful, which is the problem with buying from a large Internet site. I bought from them before, great pricing, but terrible customer service.

I would get them exchanged as well especially if they suggested the highs.

Thanks VKC & Rob! When I placed the order with opticsplanet, they noted on the invoice that they had suggested the High Rings (because I voiced some concern about it).. I already heard back from them and they are going to exchange the rings for me.. I just wanted to be sure I got the right ones..

I'll be exchanging for the low (.885) rings today.

i have the same scope with a 20moa badger rail and the standard badger rings. still enough clearance.

I'm running low rings on my 5.5-22x56 on my R700 5R and had to cut a notch out of the front bikini cover to be able to get it on. There's about an 1/8 of an inch of clearance on it

+1 As juice mentioned you'll have more than enough clearance with low rings. I have low DDROSS rings on a DDROSS rail and it clears my 5.5-22x56 with the same tight clearance for the bikini covers as illustrated in Juice's picture

Heres a pic with medium size NF rings.

they are 1.00" high

+1 on the Nightforce medium rings, that is what I used on my 5R along with the NF 20 moa rail

Ya, and allows Bikini cover to go on with a problem.

Reason i also went medium over low, is in the future if i rebarrel i can go with a larger diameter barrel if i want to.
