My Leupold Mark 4 rings don't lock onto the rail on my new AE Mk III and they are too low. What rings work well with a NF NXS 5.5-22x50 and are compatible with the AE rail?

Thanks!

Re: Rings for AE Mk III?

I think Mark 4 rings are a Weaver/Picatinny hybrid of some sort.

Any true picatinny only rings should work fine. Best one really is the AI mount though so you get some moa cant in there too. For more money you can buy Near, but the AI mount really works very well for what it is.

I am using the Ken Farrell 20 moa base with Seekins low rings. Mine is only a 42mm objective, so you might want to go with mediums to be safe. I'm using this combo because the AI mounts are too high for me.

Black-X,

I was debating the same thing when I purchased my AE MkIII over the summer. I actually ended up going with an AI 30mm, 18moa, 1 piece mount instead (model - 6371). It's rock solid and provides an excellent foundation for my glass...here's a couple of pictures for your reference. I thought about utilizing one of my LaRues, ADMs or even BoBros scope mounts but, realized I don't need a QD system for bolt gun.

Cheers,

p.s. The height is perfect - I don't even have to elevate my cheekpiece...it's spot on for me...obviously, your results may vary.

Re: Rings for AE Mk III?

I've always tried to get my scope as close to the barrel as I can. So, I understand the intent of your original post.

However, I purchased an AI AE MKIII in Sept and went with the 30MM 18 MOA AI one piece. The scope is higher off the barrel than I prefer but the design of the AI stock places your head higher than most more "traditional" stocks. So the height of the scope is wear it needs to be for a comfortable cheek weld. If the scope were much lower I think I would have difficulty getting low enough on the stock for a good comfortable cheek weld.

Thank you sir. With all the recommendations in this thread and the info you provided I will try the AI mount as soon as I can get one.
