Rings on the Shoulder from die?

Ok so I bought a Redding Type S FL .338 lapua die a while ago, so I finally bought some brass and go ahead and start to work. The first thing I notice is that on the shoulder I have rings after it runs threw the die. There is 4 rings and then one where the shoulder meets the neck. I am using once fired lapua brass with a .365 Ti-Ni bushing. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Tim

Re: Rings on the Shoulder from die?

A picture would help. You will typically get a ring on the bottom of the case above the case head from sizing. I've not seen them higher up. If you have one on the shoulder could it be the bushing making contact too low on the shoulder? Say as if the die sat low enough to allow contact on the shoulder below the neck?

Re: Rings on the Shoulder from die?

This is caused by imperfections in the reamer that was used to cut the chamber. It either had a chip or burr in it which left rings inside the chamber. You can feel them if you slide a wire or straw along the inside of the chamber. If they are slight, not a real problem. If they are bad, return the rifle and ask for an exchange.

Happened to me with a TRG. They gave me a new one in less than a week with no questions asked.

They weren't their before I sized them. I figured out what it was. I polished the inside of the die with 600 grit sand paper and fritz polish and they went away.
