I Have searched the forums at length and only found bits of data, does anyone out there have any good data for RL17 in the 260 either 139/140/142 bullets.

Charge weigth, Barrel twist rate, length and velocity.

thanks

Re: RL 17 in the 260 Rem

bear, I have been loading hornady 140 amax bullets in my 260 using remmington cases ,fed 210M primers, coal at 2.810. I have loaded between 39.5 and 44 grains of RL-17. best loads for accuracy so far were 41.5 and 43.6. the 43.6 is just barely starting to flatten the primer in my rifle the velocity out of my 24 inch pacnor barrel for the 43.6 load is 2780-2790

Re: RL 17 in the 260 Rem

I picked some up and worked on some loads yesterday. Velocity is stunning although I wont be bothering with it unless I can get better accuracy. I got very mild pressure signs at just over 3000fps with 139scenars out of a 26"barrel. Up till now I was running high 2700's with 4350 and great accuracy but like to play around with stuff out of interest and also for a mag I write for. I picked up some 4831sc at the same time and this immediately impressed me. I worked as high as 47 grains and although a slight crunch is heard on seating, got no pressure signs and STUNNING accuracy in the.25-.3's. I have a little space left for powder so will stoke it up a little more as Im pretty sure this will beat the 4350 load for accuracy and hopefully maybe 75fps on speed. The 4350 was good but this may be magic, we will see. I will play a little more with the RL17 but I just dont think its going to give me decent accuracy in my gun, who knows?
