Suppressors RL26 with suppressors

RL26 is dirty as shit but i use it in both my 6 creed and 7rm.

while that being said, I haven’t noticed much build up in my latest can after 500-600 rounds. I am sure the 7rm blows a lot of it out.

You might want to try RL16, it has similar properties to RL26 but it’s a faster powder. You are correct with guys picking up velocity with it but that’s over powders like Retumbo and H1000. I run RL26 in my 6 Comp Match but I’m also pushing 115gr bullets and I have the case capacity to run a slow powder. Not sure the 6.5x47 has the case capacity to see real gains using something like RL26. Now RL26 might be an option with the new 150gr Match King from Sierra in the 6.5x47. I have seen Area 419 working up loads in the 6.5 Creedmoor.

Now o was far as build up in your suppressor, I get some residue in my Ultra 7 but not near as much as when I ran Retumbo. I do run a 25” barrel. Since you have a 20” barrel I would avoid a magnum powder as you more than likely will get unburnt powder collecting in the can.

I tested RL-26 in my 18" 6.5x47, It just didn't have the case capacity to get enough in there.

My results below of RL-26 vs RL-17 (Keep in mind this is an 18 inch tube, so your results may vary)

RL-26 with 140 amax (measured with Magnetospeed)

41.0 = 2463 fps
43.0 = 2561 fps (this was a compressed load, couldn't fit much more in there)

RL-17 with 140 amax

39.0 = 2622 fps
41.0 = 2780 fps

So based on my experience, I would run with RL-17 or 16 in the Lapua.

The RL-26 was awesome in my 6.5-284 though, real good velocity in that.

I would be looking at Varget, RL15, 8208 territory. We had this discussion a couple months ago for the 6.5 Creedmoor. Even 4831Sc and 4350 were to slow to get a full burn in a 20" barrel according to quick load. If I recall correctly 4831SC was 92%. It heated up my can really fast on a 23" barrel.
