Now that RL33 has been out and in the hands of shooters for a couple weeks does anyone have anything to report back on about???

Somebody around here has to have tried it in their 338 Lapua or 338 something by now haven't they?!?!?!

I've got some on the way but it won't be here till late next week at the earliest.

Damn, that's around 10grains more than H1000

Re: RL33 in .338's

Yeah, I already knew about the factory info. I was looking for some actual hands on reloading experiences with RL33 since I'm sure somebody has to have some sitting on their reloading bench.

Can't help you there. I didn't even see it listed on their website when I checked on Wednesday. No data in their guide, either.

Just start low and figure out what works well for you and your rifle, is all anybody can really offer up.

Re: RL33 in .338's

doesn't look like I'll be switching from H1000, ten more grains of RL33 and 100FPS slower than what I get now.

Yep, I wouldn't do it. H1000 works perfectly good and there's a lot of known good loads.

Re: RL33 in .338's

I have a Savage 111 .338 with a 1/9 twist. It seems like 300 gr is a good one, is H1000 a good powder for that? I'm coordinating a group buy with my club for powders and primers. Please advise

Re: RL33 in .338's

I don't think there is much in the hands of retail users yet. As of Wed western powder Co. Had received but not shipped to anyone yet. I suppose some wholesaler has but not too many.

Re: RL33 in .338's

Yes. I used it in my 110fcp-hs .338LM,and my 29" barreled .300wm. In .338LM, 97.5gr of RL33 was pushing a 300gr Berger to 2750fps @ 40degF & 2800fps @ 70degF. I got pressure signs at 99.5gr, but didn't get much past 2810 @ 40deg. outside temp.
In .300wm, with 79.5gr RL33 pushing a 230gr Berger, I recorded 2753fps @70degF. Both rifles are new, and I am still searching for a pet load. This powder seems to string groups. Retumbo is giving the best velocity & accuracy so far.
