someone has recommended robar to me for a rifle build. how are they? anyone have any experience with them? was thinking of gap. thanks

yes i shot a robar once....in .308......it did well, no better , nor worse than any other custom gun.....it was as advertised

its all about barrels and triggers....if you want to be a showboat, i'm sure somebody here on the Hide can accommodate, but really......my bet is 90% of the guns here never see it past 100yd on a warm summer day and then back to the closet.....you don't need thermonuclear protection for them sort of outings.....just my narrow-minded-self-centered-opinion.....

Haven't shot their rifles, but I have several pistols with the NP3 and Robar coatings. Their coatings are bar none, especially the NP3 on any internal parts. My pistols are holstered and unholstered continuously, and theiy show very little wear for 5 years old.
You cannot go wrong with GAP, I just got my rifle back from them and I am very impressed. Trying the Cerakote out.

I have a SR60 with the m14 mag system. I think it was Tab or Tad that I talked with. I had to send the gun back three seperate times before they got it right. In the end I love the rifle. Shoots very well, great bedding job. Holds 1/2 min out at 600yds. All that said, I would with out a dought go for a Surgeon Scapel. You will have harder time selling the Robar in the end.

Back in the 90s they were a real force in precision rifles, but I think there are are more players around now of equal quality. With that said, I have an SR90 and it's still one of my best rifles. They do good work.

Don't always trust a "World Renowned" rifle builder...been there done that...as have others...great quality to get the fame and then they just float on that popularity...or somthing....never ever even heard a bad whisper about GAP....if you listen to anybody on the Hide....GAP will fuck you like a pornstar....but you will have a safe full of them before you are happy!
