I liked him as Mork but my opinion went down quickly from there. Never the less its sad...seems like he had it all going for him.

Oscar-winning actor and comedian Robin Williams has died at age 63, according to police in Marin County, Calif.

    The full statement is below.

On August 11, 2014, at approximately 11:55 a.m, Marin County Communications received a 9-1-1 telephone call reporting a male adult had been located unconscious and not breathing inside his residence in unincorporated Tiburon, CA. The Sheriff&rsquos Office, as well as the Tiburon Fire Department and Southern Marin Fire Protection District were dispatched to the incident with emergency personnel arriving on scene at 12:00 pm. The male subject, pronounced deceased at 12:02 pm has been identified as Robin McLaurin Williams, a 63-year-old resident of unincorporated Tiburon, CA.

An investigation into the cause, manner, and circumstances of the death is currently underway by the Investigations and Coroner Division s of the Sheriff&rsquos Office. Preliminary information developed during the investigation indicates Mr. Williams was last seen alive at his residence, where he resides with his wife, at approximately 10:00 pm on August 10, 2014. Mr. Williams was located this morning shortly before the 9-1-1 call was placed to Marin County Communications. At this time, the Sheriff&rsquos Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for August 12, 2014 with subsequent toxicology testing to be conducted.

His comedy was good, but his portrayal of a psychopath in One Hour Photo and Insomnia was scary as hell...

Chronic depression is something to keep an eye on if you know someone who has it. I've lost several friends to it...

    Rest In Peace, Mr. Williams!

His role of Patch Adams; A Night At The Met; Good Morning Vietnam; Mork; and his works that were on LP when I was growing up......... memorable to say the least. That man had his demons and it was a fight. Long and drawn-out and torrential, and that is only what we know of it. What we don't know....

Not the ending we were expecting, that's for sure.

The very first thing I heard of him, was the "Hollywood Hello"

So is this getting to be the infamous "California/Fame 'Goodbye'?"

Very talented man. I don't understand how someone that creates that much laughter can suffer from depression. Before anyone jumps my @ss, I will have to admit I know nothing about depression.

I saw him doing standup in Balboa park in San Diego, before Mork & Mindy, funniest damn guy. I liked him. He will be missed. To bad he did this to his family though.

How Robin Williams Changed Jessica Chastain's Life
    INSIDER Update 1:41 mins
Hollywood was left in shock and mourning on Monday when news broke of Robin Williams's tragic and sudden death and many stars took to social media to express the impact the comedic genius had on their lives. Few felt that impact quite like Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain. In a message on Facebook, the actress explained how Williams made it possible for her to attend college at New York's Julliard School. "Robin Williams changed my life," she wrote. "He was a great actor and a generous person. Through a scholarship, he made it possible for me to graduate college. His generous spirit will forever inspire me to support others as he supported me. He will forever be missed." In 2011, the "Zero Dark Thirty" star elaborated on the scholarship Williams funded in an interview with WENN: "It paid for my schooling, back and forth to go home for Christmas, books, everything," she said. "He actually made it possible for me to go to school there because my family were not incredibly wealthy and I was the first one to go to college." Jessica never actually had the chance to meet Robin and thank him personally, but she did tell On Demand Entertainment what she would say if given the chance. Check out the video to hear what Jessica said and tune in to "The Insider With Yahoo" on TV tonight for the latest in entertainment news.

From what I understand of a few of the other hollywood commedians who have had issues, not necessarily depression, but alcohol and drugs, its very common for people in comedy to have issues like depression. The comedy is their way of coping or hiding it or whatever. Something in the brain. If they werent depressed or addicts or what not, they might not be funny. Just something I read a few years ago.
