I just bought one of these junk gun kits. Has anybody ever built one of these or own one? I think they look really cool and should be alot of fun. Please respond if you own one.

    thanks

Sure would be neato full auto, but I really don't see what the difference between this and an RPK with a drum would be.

An acquaintance of mine has/had one. It was pretty cool. Only reason I could see in getting one is to have something belt fed for cheaps. (Would be nice to know and own a beltfed for a better understanding of their method of operation.)

I had a brand new chinese RPD in Iraq.It was very reliable.I put several rounds through it with no malfunctions.I had to leave it there of course.I think it would be fun in semi auto also. That was just part of my mass collection.

I also own a Vector RPD and love it.

I played with one in SE Asia, those tended to get hot and you had a runaway gun. Newer ones might be differant. It was fun to play with since I didnt have to buy the ammo, but you had to watch 'em.

Like I said, I have no experience with the newer (post 1970s) versions.

Had an old one at work a few years ago that ran like a champ. 4-6k rounds per outing and only 2-3 malfunctions each time that were ammo related. Lots of 30w lube on it was the key and a good cleaning between shootings. We were pissed when we had to turn it in.

I've had a number of them and worked on quite a few....full auto only of course. I have zero experience with the semi's. The full auto guns are some of the most reliable MG's I've ever seen. They seem to run any kind of ammo you can load in the belt. The only failures I've had in over 20,000rds fired were caused by misfeeds created by badly loaded belts. They do get hot pretty quick and will burn down the handguards after a few belts. I've heard good things about the semi auto's too. Belts and drums are out there in pretty good numbers and the ammo is still reasonable.

    good luck

Well I got the parts kit today and looks brand new. I also ordered the reciever from DSA today and got the good guy deal. Hopefully I can have this thing going in a few months. Just another one to throw on the pile.

I have 2 kits and am planning to build mine are Polish and new & quite nice the receivers are sort of high a built one in semi is 1900 to 2200 I have been sitting on my kits as I think only so many made it in to the US. Great gun and I know of a guy who was in Nam and had a chopped barrel one or para model its way cool and I do not think a folder will work on this model I may be wrong. From reading they are fun run well and great shooters. I also have 2 rpk 1 in milled and 1 stamped kit I just got old and never got my kit builds of the ground but there still is time any one who has a passion for building com bloc kits pm me and trade cell numbers I have many kits and may trade work for kits Kim
