I had to do a tiny bit of fitting to make FAL magazines work more smoothly.
I tried to get RRA to sell me more of theirs, but no deal. Finally sold mine to finance my suppressed Remington.

Rock River Arms has advertised that they'll be coming out later this year with polymer 10/20/30rd FAL magazines, for the LAR-8 and standard FALs as well.

Which LAR-8 did you get? I have the LAR-8 26" varmint A-4 that I absolutely love. It's a "tad" on the heavy side, but 5 shot 100 yd 1/2-3/4 inch groups is good enough for me. I haven't had time to work in any longer range shooting yet. Hopefully I'll have a day off soon that the weather is decent so I can get out to the 550yd range. I have metric mags that I picked up from a local shop for $20 each. I can't seem to find the $8 mags at the gunshows that people talk about. Metric Mags feed fine and drop free easily.
You won't be dissapointed with your RR.

Sorry reply is taken so long,been working out of town. I got the mid length LAR 8.Just ordered the Advanced RRA Half Quad 2 days ago. Its a beautifully machined piece of art with 4 picatinny rails...the options are endless! It came with the standard mid length guard which gives no options for bi pods etc..Just had to upgrade. Still debating on a scope. Leupold,EoTech,Aimpoint?? I'm torn.Any suggestions?Oh,by the way 500 grains, after I posted my first e mail I began sending out e mails to every gun site I could find and only ONE person replied=Damon from "WhatACountry". 30-rounders are pretty heavy; you might find you prefer the balance of 20-rounders instead. In either case, RRA has yet to announce when they'll start shipping.

30-rounders are pretty heavy; you might find you prefer the balance of 20-rounders instead. In either case, RRA has yet to announce when they'll start shipping.

SRT, I hear ya!Took er out for the first time today and after 100 rounds shot in the standing position it really isn't that heavy.Highly recommend the "Badger Ordinance" Tactical Latch P/N 249-02 when outfitted with a scope.Threw in a pic of my LAR with HK P30V3

Got the mags from "WhatACountry" yesterday.Fast shipping and the magazines are BETTER than the one that came with the RRA!!I got both the IMI(part#WC20) and the Belgium (part#WC20B) magazines FN/FAL. I would buy more of the IMI magazines if I did it again. They both were in exceptional condition, but the IMI's were just a bit cleaner than the Belgium mags.Shot some rounds through them and they worked flawlessly! Fit the reciever like a glove!I would highly recommend them!!

Interesting; I'd have expected the Belgium mags to be nicer.
On occasion one can stumble across some old German aluminum FAL mags; they're incredibly light in comparison to the standard ones, but prone to feeding issues - I've finally given up on them, as even the "good" mags seem to quickly stop working.

Cool, a bunch of sources for my R1A1 mags! It's good to see someone is making the old FAL mags move up in quality so I can get some nice ones for my rifle

Lola85, is that a Magpul PRS adjustable buttstock on your LAR-8??? On Magpuls website they say the PRS will not work with the LAR-8.How did you get it to work??? I could not help but notice that it looks like there is a buttstock extender piece between the upper and the buttstock. Does this save you having to cut the cheek piece, and where did you get it?? Man,you have some money tied up in that beauty! Thanks in advance!

Answered my own question. Glad I found this forum! I just picked my LAR8 up today as well... I gotta say accessorizing is getting to be pretty addictive ...and pricey. Right now I just have the PRS on the gun and I got my Leupold yesterday- the LaRue SPR is in the mail.
I'm trying to decide Quad vs the Half Rail for 20 bucks more... I've heard that free floating this tube isn't as easy as the AR15's due to barrel nut issues, anyone have any experience with this?
Oh, then I need to find some reasonable priced ammo that isn't crap.

Thanks for the source on the mags...I've been looking forever. I have a couple of RRA AR-15 with the half quad rail and another LAR-8 with the Advanced Half Quad Rail on order. IMO you can't go wrong with the half quad rail...very functional and comfortable.

The RRA 308 is made with machinery bought from Bushmaster. When Bushmaster still made the 308, they claimed that the metric and standard mags would function. I never owned the RRA or the Bush, so I only know what Bushmaster told me.

Let me know were can get a deal on these Mags... As far as I KNOW the FAL Metric and L1A1 Inch ones will work... MAGPUL mags will not work at all... becareful.

I have had better luck with the metric. Then again I only own 1 L1A1 mag for it and it jams all the time. I imagine it is more of a spring issue. I finally made use of it as a target. As far as the half quad-good luck!! I have had one on order for 3 months now, and when I called RRA they said they have to fill all the orders for the LAR-8 with half quads before they sell any of the half quads as a hand guard only. BLOW!!

They said the same thing about their barrels. I have the 26" Varminter and want a 20" or so and they won't sell just the barrel till they get "caught up". Really nice rifle, but I want to put a can on mine and don't want a 34" barrel sticking out there.
