Gunsmithing rra lar-8 trigger upgrade?

Recently I bought a RRA LAR-8 Predator expecting it to have a nice, light two- stage trigger. The pull weight on my trigger is 5 lbs./10 oz. I would like a lighter pull - for me this is fairly heavy. Should I try a cheap-o JP Enterprises light spring kit and polish up the trigger? The next option would by drop a couple hundred on a Giessele trigger and not look back. Is the Giessele trigger that much of an improvement over a RRA two stage trigger to justify the cost?

In a word...YES! I don't have a problem with the RRA NM triggers at all for a good, entry-level upgrade from a stock trigger, but they don't compare to the Geissele triggers in my use/experience with them. I realize the cost is more than double, but to me, for my particular needs/wants in an AR trigger, the Geissele triggers are a no-brainer.

Re: rra lar-8 trigger upgrade?

I was looking at either the geissele ssa or the lighter ssa-e. Is the enhanced version going to be too sensitive? My only frame of reference is with single stage timney triggers on my bolt guns.

If operated properly, the lighter SSA-E should serve you well. I personally recommend most folks stick with non-adjustable triggers (especially in rifles that will see any hard use/abuse), and the SSA-E and SD-E are my preferred of the non-adjustable Geissele lineup.

If you think you would prefer a single stage trigger similar to your bolt guns, then Timney also makes a quality AR-15 trigger/hammer kit (complete "trigger pack"/integrated unit) available in different varieties, weights of pull (as light as around 3-3.5lbs), etc., etc.

It is if you have high expectations of a trigger. If not then keep the rra until you have some extra cash to get a Giessele. I would recommend the high speed match if you get one.
