Anyone using one for hunting? Or PRS? Thoughts?

I'm strongly considering one of these myself. My only question is if I can get it down to a sitting shooting height with an Anvil-30. As far as the advertised specs go, kneeling is completely doable with legs collapsed and in 2nd position. However, this height would be too tall for shooting while sitting. What I would like to find out is the height at the top of a leveled Anvil if one leg was placed forward in 3rd position with the 2 legs in the rear in the 2nd position for seated shooting.

i would think it is the same as another tripod with legs extended to that length.
says folded length is 38.2" and if i extend my legs to that length when folded, and then set up like you say 2+2+3 i get ~20" to the top on the anvil 30.

With the 2+2+3 setup, do you still have some useful angular range left over in the Anvil for a slight uphill shot angle?

Thank you very much! Your picture and height measurement has helped me out considerably in order to feel confident getting the 22i with the Anvil.
sure thing. i think having the locks at the top is great, so you can just reach from right there to tweak the height, instead of having to reach down.

How's the rigidity of that 2+2+3 simulation of the 22i as compared to a symmetrical 2+2+2 sitting height of your tripod? Does that 22i simulation feel bouncy in the vertical plane with the one leg in the 3rd position?

i wouldn't say "bouncy" but there is some flex if you put enough weight on it.
but there are also 2 joints involved to get 38.2" in leg length on a 34L (compact) so not a fair test.
the 34 only has to be extended 7" on each leg to get the top of the anvil down to 20", so it is like a rock.
it might be better to give up some vertical stiffness (i don't see any forces pushing down besides the rifle weight) to get a wider stance.
also angular physics and all that...

I've got the TVC22i with Anvil 30. You definitely can shoot off of it in a sitting position. I run the legs collapsed, with 2 in the #2 position and 1 in the #3 position. It's a big footprint, but the height is fine and it's very stable.

    Pros:
Quick to adjust with quick locks near your hands
    Very stable & lightweight

    Cons
Quick locks are reverse of what you are used to with a standard tripod
Footprint is very large when sitting/kneeling

I won't get rid of this tripod, but I would definitely consider adding another TFCT-33 or 24L to my collection for a more packable/hunting friendly setup

I’ve had a 22i for a couple months now and love it. I use it for night hunting coyotes and prs matches. Only downfall is fully collapsed it’s long and in the sitting position the legs are spread out a ways. Other than that it’s great quick to deploy and light.
