Will they still cover you under warranty if the tripod is used? In other words is it transferable? Anybody have personal experience with this?

I mean they are touted as the toughest tripod gear ever. So if they don’t honor something broken no matter where it came from then that’s no good IMO.

it should be if it breaks we fix it no matter who bought it.

Officially,
"All Really Right Stuff brand products are guaranteed to the original purchaser to be free of defects in materials or workmanship for five (5) years from the date of purchase. Product will be repaired or replaced at our option."

We will help out anyone with gear issues. But yes it is written for the original purchaser. When something breaks even after warranty we usually fix it and/or give a break to the customer.

But no, we do not fix everything no matter what. People have returned them for repair after some really poor decisions were made, and we help, but there is a line.

If you have an issue give me a pm, if your just asking becuase you found one for sale, hope i answered your questions.

Makes sense, thanks for the insight!

Sounds reasonable enough to me. Plus the benefit of not trying to get parts to China if something does go screwy.

I don't have RRS sticks, yet (they weren't even made when I bought my Gitzo many years ago), but everything else I own that's RRS has been a tank. The RRS sticks are more overbuilt than the Gitzo I have, and that Gitzo has seen some serious abuse (saltwater... doubling as a hiking pole... mud... etc). My impression from handling RRS tripods is that I'd really have to try to break the things - and unless I shear a leg or something, anything I do is easily correctable by cleaning, and possibly replacing a couple of inexpensive parts.

Heck, even the tiny little BH-25 that I've got is a tough little monster.

Let's just say I don't plan on buying another brand for camera or rifle support in the near future. On top of solid product, they're a non-firearms centric company that entered the firearms market willingly. They're 100% US made. And the company cared enough about it's employees and the tax environment in the state they were living in to move the whole thing to a far freer and more affordable state. (win-win for company and employees).

I'm an unabashed fan boi. No doubt. But with good reason.
