I am relatively new to the whole accuracy shooting and I am building a custom Ruger 10/22. It seems like there are lots of choices regarding barrels...I am looking for accuracy and durabilty as this gun will be geared towards varmits. I would love to hear any and all recoomendations....I am looking for somethign in the .920 area...

Unless you are going for maximum accuracy, any of the aftermarket barrels will hold tight enough for varmint work, and you will likely never wear out a 22lr barrel.

My fiancee got one from her dad. He has built several now and has been using whistle pig barrels. The are pretty nice and available in some very nice finishes.

What kind of budget? The A&B barrels from midway have a good reputation, and they are inexpensive and usually available. Green Mountain is well known, but actually getting one can be problematic at times. VQ drop in trigger kit, pillar the td screw and bed it, put some good glass on and go.

I haven't tried a Fedderson yet, (it WILL be my next one), however I have loved both my Lilja, and Benchmark (http://benchmark-barrels.com/Benchmark_Barrels/Benchmark_Barrels_-_Home.html) barrels.

I would go lilja hands down as you'll never wear it out and you'll always wonder what could have been. But saying that I went with a carbon barrel from VQ as I was going for lite as possible on my last build. I do have a lilja for my Kimber 82G though and that is something special.

another vote for KIDD here. I wouldn't worry about wearing any .22lr barrel out. Especially not the KIDD, he uses lothar walter lw50 blanks.
