I'm looking at getting a Boyds pro varmint in the near future. 1) They offer a rear pillar in this model stock, is it worth getting? 2) would I be better off glass bedding? 3) or do both? 4) I believe this particular rifle has a pressure pad on the tip of the forearm. Will I need to retain this or will I be able to free float? Thanks.

I would do both ( pillar and bed ). If it is a varmint contour barrel, I'd free float it. Sporter contours can sometimes us a little extra "love" with a pressure pad - but the varmint contours generally don't need it.

I would take the rear pillar option since its there but I wouldnt bother with the angled front pillar. Its a real bitch which is probably why they specified the rear only so just put some compound up front and call it good.
