Ruger American stock question

Has anyone cut their own wood stock for one? I see Boyds has the magwell//trigger guard kit for around 120 bucks. Does anyone else make stuff for these? AND yes I know "I'm wasting my time with a Ruger".

After much browsing it looks like I gotta get that part from boyds. Anyone have recommendations on pic rail vs arca and adjustable cheek riser stuff to install into the stock? Oh and adjustable recoil pad things too.
