Bought the same gun for the kids to grow into and use for a go to gun on the place. The kids can shoot it consistently and it's got rid of at least 20 or so coyotes. It's probably a favorite gun at our place.I have one that's a compact, stainless version. Good little cheap gun that shoots sub MOA if you can hold the flimsy stock down. One thing I have noticed is the chamber is cut short and tight. Bullets hit the lands .1-.15" shorter than my other .223 rifles. Great little ranch rifle or something for the kids to learn with.
But I found the rotary mag would jam the last round in the mag regularly.... I called ruger and they said they knew of the problem, sent me 2 magazines and it's never had an issue since.Bought the same gun for the kids to grow into and use for a go to gun on the place. I would not with a 223. There have been multiple people with issues unless they have been resolved. The three lug bolt has problems with 223 out of AICS magsDo yourself a favor tho and swap that stock for a Magpul right out of the gate. Then aside from the zipper sounding action, they are all great.
They make a AICS 223 American now? Most of the newer ones support AI mags, I use the MDT poly/metal 10 rounder in mine.
