Gunsmithing Ruger BP100 Hammer change out

Re: Ruger BP100 Hammer change out

Ruger has always been responsive to customer inquiries about this sort of thing. Been meaning to send my Blackhawk to them so they could fit it out with a .45 ACP cylinder.

I'll bet you can get what you want done with yours.

Re: Ruger BP100 Hammer change out

Thanks, I will give Ruger a call. The correct model is BP100. It's quite a good pistol. I have checked on Brownells, they didn't seem to have anything for me. I guess I will have to go factory base.

Re: Ruger BP100 Hammer change out

I've never heard of a BP100... and I've never heard of a DAO GP100.

Ruger only lists one hammer for the GP100, and it is a spur hammer.

I'm guessing that you have an SP101. I don't know if it's a simple hammer swap, or if other parts have to also be replaced. My spurless SP101 will not work as a single action - hammer will not stay cocked. Ruger notes that SP101 hammer must be factory fitted.

Is it five or six shot cylinder?...

Good luck,

Bill
