Ruger Precision.338

I know these guns are not custom nor are they on the same planet as some of y’all’s stuff but I’m having issues getting this rifle to group. I’ve tried both of Hornadys offerings and I was hoping someone may have information as to what this rifle likes, $110 a box is expensive experimentation.

I should add that I have 3 other rpr’s that love Hornady. I’m leaning towards Berger’s ammo as they offer a heavier bullet?

First. Check all fasteners. Strip it down, decrease everything and torque it. Clean the barrel and inspect the crown.

Have a friend, who is use to big guns, shoot a couple groups

You've got three other RPR's, shoot frequently (obviously including LR for the LM)- and you don't roll your own?

As it stands, I’m the friend who shoots large calibers for others in a sense. I’m no stranger to magnums, not claiming to be an expert by any means, but better than your average bear. I’ll pull the rifle apart and check what I can, thanks.

As far as hand loading goes, I don’t have any equipment of my own to learn with. Plus, this might be the end of the worst time in history to try to purchase components or equipment, but who knows what comrade biden ends up doing. I’d love to reload everything as I get satisfaction from making things with my own hands. Just not sure it’s in the cards at the moment.
